Our association was born as primary support for people with disabilities and their families, activating a series of services and proposals that aim at inclusion, the acquisition of skills, the enhancement of resources and support for families. Several projects were born including the Saturdays of performing art in order to testify beauty and open a new look on the person with disabilities. Reality of the territory (eg Piccolo Cottolengo of Milan), and professional artists have donated their passion and their time to the purpose. The loom has an operational headquarters in the San Siro district (although it also works throughout the national territory) and since 2017 it has become part of the Sansheroes network which includes about twenty associative realities (Alphabets, Mothers at school, Social Co-operation All together). , Genera onlus, Mapping San Siro (Polytechnic of Milan), Soleterre onlus …).
Participation in the network favored collaboration and the possibility of weaving projects in favor of the neighborhood; for example, the San Siro Women’s Circle and Laboratories in the courtyards for children were born, both within the QuBì Recipe against child poverty (Cariplo Foundation). On 30 September 2019 we publicly signed the collaboration agreement between the Municipality, the DAStU (Department of architecture and urban studies) of the Milan Polytechnic and a large group of associations, such as: San Siro neighborhood laboratory, non-profit Alphabets, All Cooperative Social Cooperative , Community Cooperative Social Project, Genera onlus, Fare Assieme, Mums at School and the Intercultura commission Istituto Cadorna. “It is an advanced form of volunteering for the care of common goods, which allows us to administer in an open and participatory way and activate civic energies thanks to informal and simplified procedures.In this case, we are particularly satisfied with a project that involves a particularly fragile neighborhood and which, among others, also has the objective of promoting the care of public and domestic spaces aimed at improving the quality of living and of the relationships between the inhabitants “.
